There used to be this tiny 십원빵 (Korean coin cheese bread) stall tucked right under a massage parlor in Yuseong, Daejeon. The woman who ran it made the best 십원빵 I’ve ever had. The cheese pull was always 10/10. The bread was fresh, crispy, and never too cake-y. Plus, she always ensured it had those irresistible flaky edges you could pick off and savor.
I went there way too often—no regrets. But one day, I showed up, ready for my usual fix, only to find the stall was gone. In its place? A GS25 convenience store. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about living in Korea, it’s this: you have to cherish those hidden gems because they can disappear overnight.
Fast forward to my ongoing quest for good coin cheese bread, and I stumbled upon Café Lomon. Their 십원빵 is solid—though I still miss that little stall—but what really caught my attention? Their cakes. Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness. And look at this adorable matcha bear cheesecake!
Café Lomon - Daejeon, South Korea

The atmosphere
It’s cozy and inviting—nothing too big or grand, just a warm, homey environment that feels instantly comfortable. The space is filled with different shades of polished wood, from deep browns to soft beige tones, creating a naturally soothing atmosphere. Olive green accents blend seamlessly with the wood elements, adding a touch of nature-inspired charm. It’s a space to unwind, while the soft hum of relaxing piano music makes it an ideal spot to slow down and enjoy a quiet moment and a good dessert.
Let’s talk about the food!
First, the 십원빵. It’s everything a cheese lover could want—hot, fresh, and made to order with that perfect cheese pull. The edges are wonderfully crisp, but the bread leans slightlyyy cake-y near the sides. Overall I’d give it a solid 8/10. Definitely worth a try!

Then, the star of the show: the cinnamon Marlenka cake. Five layers of perfection! Every bite is fluffy, moist, and light. The cinnamon flavor shines without overpowering, and the banana pairs beautifully with the frosting. I could easily eat an entire slice without feeling weighed down—it’s that good. 10/10!
Last, but definitely the cutest: the matcha bear cheesecake. The detail is insane—it even looks like it has fur! I expected a fluffy sponge cake, but surprise—it’s a cheesecake! The matcha flavor is rich and deep, though since it’s a cheesecake, it’s on the heavier side. Best shared with a friend, but hey, no judgment if you go solo.

So, if you’re ever in Daejeon and looking for some cheesy coin bread or some amazing cakes to snack on, Café Lomon is a must-visit!
